Jerry Ammons went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013. Awaiting him will be, his father, Horace Greely Ammons; mother, Mary Adla (McArthur) Ammons; his eldest son, Terry Lynn Ammons; 2 brothers, Homer Odom and Roy Mike Ammons; 3 sisters, Malalliemae Odom, Joanne Ammons and Sue Phillips; and many family and friends. Survived by his wife of 30 years, Darlene Lowery Ammons; 5 sons, Mark (Desiree) Ammons and Simon (Tammy) Ammons both of Pensacola, FL, Shannon (Sonia) and Shane Ammons, and Brandon (Sandi) Smith all of Milton, FL; 6 daughters, Dana (David) Cook of North Carolina, Lisa (John) Smith of Pace, FL, Renae (Tony) Woodfin of Colorado, Gina (David) Richardson of Alabama, Delina (Shawn) Perkins and Angela (Nick) Borkowski both of Milton; 32 grandchildren, Melanie, Belinda Shayna, Leah, Josh, Mark, Bo, Jamie, Free, Tristen, Tyler, Haylee, Paisley, Waylon, Jeremy, Timothy, Jordan, Gauge, Hanna, Trevor, Caitlin, Caleb, Josh, Grace, Andrew, Gavin, Owen, Brysen, Liam, Laine, Kiley, and Keira; 12 great-grandchildren, Gunner, Shyanna, Jordan, Alexus, Libbie, Lawson, Zeus, Storie, Simon, Brody, Bailey, and Garrett. Jerry was a true hard working family man. He was revered by his family, friends, and co-workers for being an honest, loyal, and generous man. Jerry was the type of man who always told it like it was and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a great father, teacher, and mentor who always imparted his knowledge upon others. Jerry will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Our world is now a slightly darker place without him but Heaven just got a little bit brighter.
