Jo Charline Locklear Milton, Florida Obituary

Jo Charline Locklear

Jo Charline Locklear, 70, of Milton, passed away with her family by her side, on Sunday, February 15, 2015, after a short illness. Charline was born June 16, 1944, and moved to Milton after marrying Danny on March 8, 1962. She was a devoted wife and mother interested in serving her family and caring for those she loved. She was a gifted cook and loved nothing more than to feed her family and friends, and was always cooking for someone in need. She was often seen around town delivering her cheesecakes and other goodies as a token of her gratitude at doctors’ offices, the beauty shop, pharmacy, and other businesses she and her family patronized. She always remembered your favorite cake or special dish and would prepare it for you without even a request. Charline believed in giving the benefit of the doubt. She was kind and forgiving and you were always welcomed in her kitchen. She loved nothing more than to feed those whom she loved and those whom her loved ones loved. Her compassion was matched only by her sense of humor, which could lighten any mood and always bring a smile. She loved her family and bragged on them wherever she went. She is dearly missed by the love of her life, Danny, her family and this community Charline was preceded in death by their son, Charles Anthony Locklear; and her parents Jeanette and Charles Barnes. She is survived by her husband of almost 53 years, Danny; her daughter, Angie (Randy) James; her son, Randy (Alex) Locklear; her grandchildren, Joseph Miller, Alexandra (Simon) Cavilla, Shelley James, Jacob Locklear, Justin Locklear, Susanna Locklear and MacKinlay Locklear; her sister, Patricia (Fred) Mitchell; niece, Cathy Daglish; and nephews, Michael and Freddie Mitchell. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., at Lewis Funeral Home in Milton (6405 U.S. 90, Milton, Florida 32570). Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel; followed by burial services at 11:00 a.m., at Barrancas National Cemetery, onboard Pensacola NAS. Honorary pallbearers include all who loved her cheesecakes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name, to a charity she blessed with her cooking, "My Father’s Arrows" (12929 Highway 87N, Milton, Florida). My Father's Arrows supports local orphans and foster children, and whose mission is to provide needing children with safe, permanent, loving Christian homes.
