Joan Timmons Obituary

Joan Frances Parker Timmons February 20. 1937-November 10, 2014 Joan Frances Parker Timmons of Milton, Florida, went to her heavenly home on Monday, November 10, 2014, leaving behind an adoring family and a legacy of kindness, humor, and wit. Born and raised in Blountstown, Florida, Joan attended Chipola Junior College and the University of Florida, where she met the love of her life, William. Married in 1959, they enjoyed 55 years of marriage and together raised four daughters, who inherited their mother’s spunk and zest for life. Joan loved the Florida Gators, fishing at her camp on the Chipola River, and keeping up with the goings-on of her six grandchildren. Her passing has created an emptiness that will be softened by the many warm memories that her family holds dear. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jess Hayes Parker, and by her grandson Dexter Blackmon. Joan is survived by her husband of 55 years, William Alexander Timmons. She is also survived by her four daughters and their husbands—Joni Timmons Harrison (George), Tallahassee; Suzy Timmons Harris (Howard), Winter Park; Alexandra Timmons (Craig Blackmon), Milton; and Frances Timmons Cooley (Chip), Milton—as well as six grandchildren—Parker Harris, Jacksonville; Tyler Harris, Winter Park; Grant Harris, Oxford, Miss.; Payne Cook, Tallahassee; and Hayes and Harper Joan Cooley, Milton. In addition, Joan leaves behind a brother, Jim Parker (Beverly), Blountstown; four nephews; and three nieces. Active pallbearers will be Parker Harris, Tyler Harris, Grant Harris, Payne Cook, Hayes Cooley, Jake Parker, Sam Timmons, and Brian Timmons. Visitation will take place at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, on Thursday, November 13, 2014, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. (CST) at Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown. Those wishing to make a donation in her memory may contribute to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to Dr. Sherif Ibrahim and his staff for the compassionate care provided to Joan during her courageous battle with cancer.
