Joanne Gamewell
12/23/1932 to 04/25/2013
Joanne Sutherland Gamewell, age 80, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2013,
after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinsons.
Joanne was born in Butler, PA on December 23, 1932 to Edward and Emma
Sutherland. She graduated from Butler High School and then joined the Navy,
where she met the man of her life. That is when she raised a family of three
daughters and two sons. Whether it was sports, Scouting or any school activity,
Joanne was very active with her children's endeavors. She was better known for
her crocheting talent. There was not a Christmas that went by that she didn't
give her children and grandchildren something she crocheted throughout the year.
These will be special treasures forever.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Terry and Bruce
Sutherland, grandson Christopher Oldfield and great-granddaughter Alexis
Gamewell.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Edward Gamewell of Milton; children
Steven Gamewell Sr (Jenny) of Gainesville, Terri Chambers of Collierville, TN,
Cheryl Oldfield of Milton, Tom Gamewell of Pensacola, Shari Gamewell of Orlando;
Sister Kay Hardiman of Wichita, KS; ten grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be on Friday, May 3 from 10am to 12pm at Lewis Funeral Home in
Milton, FL. The service will begin at 12pm, followed by a graveside service
with military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.
