"Joe" Baxley

Joseph Leon “Joe” Baxley, 63, of Milton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 3, 2019, surrounded by his family and friends, at Santa Rosa Medical Center. He was born December 29, 1955, in Milton, Florida, to Leon “Red” and Elouise (Baker) Baxley. Joe married Sandra Hinote on August 6, 1973. He was a heavy duty equipment operator and retired from the Santa Rosa County Road Department after thirty years of service. He was a member of Ferris Hill Baptist Church. He loved animals, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Baxley. Joe is survived by his wife, Sandra; a daughter, Criscia Dee Baxley; three grandsons, Jeremy Joe Head, Hunter James Head and Fisher Lee Head; one great-grandson, Jeremiah Curtis Head; his brother, Kenneth (Gail) Baxley; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019, with Rev. Carl Baker and Rev. Kevin Nelson officiating, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial will follow services in Crain Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. for family; and 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for the public, prior to the services. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the Santa Rosa Medical Center for the care they extended to Joe. Also, thank you all so very much for your calls, food and prayers that have sustained our family through this most difficult time.
