John Anderson

John Thomas Edgar Anderson June 21, 1943 – March 20, 2014 John Anderson, 70, of Navarre, FL passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014. He was raised in Statenville, GA and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1966. He understood life’s priorities (God, family and work) and lived accordingly. He was a member at First United Methodist Church of Prattville, AL for many years, before moving to Florida and joining St. Paul Methodist Church of Gulf Breeze. He had a passion for family and friends and enjoyed running, the outdoors, following the Georgia Bulldogs, and was active with Boy Scouts. He spent his career in the paper industry working for Union Camp and International Paper and later in Russia for the Ilim Group. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Edgar Anderson and Mary Magdalene (Rewis) Anderson, his sister Mary Magdalene Anderson and daughter-in-law Jennifer Strom. He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years Nancy (Humphries) Anderson; children: John Patrick Anderson, Eric Anderson (Amy) and Amy Cline (Paul); his step-children Shanna Strom, Simon Strom (Yuri), Miles Strom (Nina) and Ian Strom; loving grandchildren John Eric and Eli Anderson, Rachel, Anna and Will Cline, Nathan Strom, Madisen and Jasmin Strom, Catalina and Leya Alexander; and many other family and friends. Each family member is a better person and thankful for their time with him as husband, father and grandfather. Visitation with the family will be at First United Methodist Church in Prattville, AL at 10:30 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m., on Monday, March 24, 2014. Visitation will also be held at McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta, GA at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. and burial following at Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County, GA on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, the Boy Scouts of America, St. Paul United Methodist Church of Gulf Breeze, FL or a charity of your choice.
