John Cox

John Odom Cox, Jr. age 78, from Milton, FL, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014. He was born in Gattman, Mississippi on April 10, 1935. He was a retired brother of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers of Local Union 676 Pensacola, FL. He served his country in the USAF being stationed in Goose bay AFB, Labrador, then Hurlburt Field, FWB where he met and married his first love and the mother of his children, Linda Broxson. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Odom, SR. and Era Lee Cox; Sister, Jewel Pridgen; Brother, Jerry Cox, SR.; Great-granddaughter, Lillie Elizabeth. He is survived by his daughters, Sandi Wilbanks of Pace, FL, Connie (Roland) Clark of Milton, FL; Son, David “Bubba” Cox of Milton, FL; Their mother, Linda Enzor of Pace, FL; Brother, James Cox of Cantonment, FL; Sisters, Sarah Barlow of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Geneva Holcomb of Saltillo, MS, Becky (Bill) Gandy of Millville, NJ, Ruth (Charlie) Polston of Jacksonville, FL; Numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Milton with Evangelist David Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service. Pallbearers will be: Tommy Madison, Bobby Smith, David Cox, Jr., Joshua Cox, Jerry Cox, Jr. and Terry Griffith. Honorary Pallbearers will be: James Tolbert, Micky Broxson, Joey Tolbert and Greg Cooley. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sandy Ridge Health and Rehab for all the love and care that they gave him during this time. They have become extended family members!
