John J. Kolinofsky Obituary

John J Kolinofsky, 94, of Milton, Florida passed away Easter Sunday April 12, 2020. John was born in Taylor, Pennsylvania on April 28, 1925 to the late John and Barbara (née Podracky) Kolinovsky. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1943 and immediately joined the Navy to serve his Country during WW II and was honorably discharged in 1946. Upon discharge and faced with the prospect of joining his father in the Pennsylvania coal mines John opted to seek factory employment in Connecticut. It was there in 1948 that while working at Remington Arms in Bridgeport he met Mitize Irene Kevalas. They were married on May 2, 1949 and remained happily together until Mitize’s death on March 1, 2007. In 1951 John started working for the Talalay brothers at Sponge Rubber Products in Shelton, Conn. as a machine operator. Soon thereafter the company was purchased by BF Goodrich and John remained there until 1973. He worked for many years in the tool shed at Bridgeport Brass and retired in 1990 working at a water treatment plant on the Naugatuck River in Seymour, Connecticut. In May of 1997 he and Mitize moved from their home in Seymour to Bernath Place in Milton, Florida. John is survived by his son John J Kolinofsky, Jr and wife Sandra Kolinofsky of Gordon, Texas and daughter Barbara Porcher and husband Joel Porcher of Milton, Florida. John is also survived by 6 grandchildren including John and David Kolinofsky, Kristin Muñoz, Rev Joel and Sgt John Porcher and Sarah Porcher Sinskie. John is also survived by 10 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Homestead Village of Pensacola, Florida for the loving care and attention shown to our beloved father in his final years. Funeral arrangements are being made conjointly with the Lewis Funeral Home of Milton, Florida and the Ralph E Hull Funeral Home of Seymour, Conn. Internment will be at St. Augustine’s Cemetery in Seymour, Conn. However, due to the restrictions resulting from the current Covid-19 Virus pandemic plans for any services are indeterminate. The family hopes that a service of tribute can be arranged for family and friends this Summer.
