Johnathon Cartwright Obituary

Johnathon “Johnny” Dewayne Cartwright, 40, of Milton, FL passed away on June 21, 2019. Johnathon was the first-born son of Tonya J. Logan and Brandon R. Cartwright Jr. He was born on June 1, 1979 in Pensacola, Florida. He lived most of his life in the Baldwin County, Alabama, area and the Santa Rosa County, Florida, area. Johnathon was a free spirt. He loved to be where his family and friends were. He would make special trips just to spend a few hours with the ones he loved. He loved long talks over coffee or Pepsi. He had an ability to make those around him feel comfortable and safe. His personality would light up a room, his laughter was contagious. He was our “Sunshine” on a rainy day. The beach was Johnathon’s “Happy Place”. You could often find him just walking the shoreline clearing his head. He loved with all his heart. No, he was not a perfect person and he knew this. He also knew the love of Christ. He often talked with family about God’s unconditional love. To know the love of Christ was to show love when others would shy away. This is the love we, his family, saw in Johnathon. Johnathon is preceded in his heavenly homecoming by Maybell Logan (maternal grandmother), Margaret Qualls (paternal grandmother), James Qualls (paternal grandfather), Debbie Logan Ward (beloved Aunt), Betty Jarrell (beloved Aunt), Chloe Ann Qualls (loved cousin), and Sean Michael McKay (beloved cousin). Johnathon leaves behind his mother, Tonya J. Logan, of Pensacola, Florida; father, Brandon R. Cartwright Jr. (Debbie Cartwright, stepmother) of Ville Platte, Louisiana; Audrey A. Cartwright, stepmother of New Iberia, Louisiana; his three sisters, Brandy Lee Cartwright of Pensacola, Florida, April Lynn Myers (Trey Myers) of New Iberia, Louisiana, and Lauren Meadors (Dustin Meadors) of Fort Poke, Louisiana; five brothers, Brandon R. Cartwright III of New Iberia, Louisiana, Rathan Whittington of Lafayette, Indiana, Jeramiah Whittington of Pensacola, Florida, Samuel Whittington of Pensacola, Florida, and Sylus Cartwright of Ville Platte, Louisiana, three beautiful nieces; four handsome nephews; and his loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many loving friends that were family to him. The family would like to extend a very heart felt thank you to Edward Livingston of Milton, Florida, for the many years of love, comfort and care shown to Johnathon. You were so much more than a friend. We will forever be grateful for all you have done and continue to do to assist this family in our time of grief. The family requests memorial donations be made in Johnathon’s name, to The Ocean Clean Up Foundation or the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.) As Johnathon had requested, we the family have consented to the cremation of his body. We will be announcing the time and place of a memorial service honoring the life and love of Johnathon, as soon as possible.
