Joseph Lambert Milton, Florida Obituary

Joseph Lambert

Joseph Davison Lambert 1927 – 2017 Our beloved father, husband and friend, Joseph “Joe” D. Lambert, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born to Lula Kate and Noah Elias Lambert in Atmore, Alabama, on December 22, 1927. Joe served in the US Army during the Korean War as an intelligence specialist. After serving his country, he returned to Alabama where he met the love of his life, Mary Catherine Fincher. Joe and Cathy moved to Milton, Florida, where they raised three children: Jody, Kristie and Marie. Joe co-owned Santa Rosa Auto Parts with his brother-in-law and then went in to the grocery business where he co-owned the Han-D-Pak food stores with Hamp Jernigan. Joe dearly loved his employees and considered many of them close friends. After more than 20 plus years in the grocery store business, Joe retired and began his dream job as a residential contractor. Joe built homes in the Milton and Pace area, predominantly in Stonebrook and Tanglewood subdivisions. Joe never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone he met. He was the quintessential people person and the ones he held most dearly were family members. His devotion to family was endless. Joe is preceded in death by his mother and father, Lula Kate and Noah Elias Lambert; sister, Barbara (Hiram) Cook; brother, Jake Lambert; and son, Joseph D. “Jody” Lambert II. Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cathy; two daughters, Kristie (Higinio) Rodriguez and Marie (Bart) Siders; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Ashley) Rodriguez, Natalia (Alan) Sansovich, Mary Amelia Rodriguez, Christopher Siders, and Casey Siders; two great-grandchildren, Jack Sansovich and Finn Sansovich; sister-in-law, Virginia Lambert; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who adored him. Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2017, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Monsignor Michael Reed officiating.
