Katherine Jakowich

Katherine Hood Jakowich, age 83, passed away in her home on the 11th of December, 2016. Previously of Lompoc, California; now a long time resident of Navarre, Florida, Katherine was a loving mother and dedicated wife. She had a passion for life and was happiest when surrounded by her family. Katherine had an innate love for animals and she was a stout defender of the environment. Katherine served three years in the United States Air Force as a Morse Code Operator before becoming a successful business woman in the retail sector. Incredibly talented with her hands, Katherine was as comfortable operating a table saw as she was a sewing machine. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts she is predeceased by her parents Raymond and Mabel Hood of Randolph, Massachusetts; her sister Martha Hand of Braintree, Massachusetts, and her best ever feline friend “Squeaky”. Katherine is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Edward M. Jakowich; her daughter Jeannette (Bill) Pruitt of Marathon, Florida; her son Henry (Debbie) Ellis of Chelsea, Alabama; her grandson Justin (Jamie) Ellis of Chelsea, Alabama; her two great grandsons Tristen Ellis and Isaac Ellis of Chelsea, Alabama and her two dearest friends Paul & Anna Ramsey of Pensacola, Florida. Katherine chose cremation and her ashes will be dispositioned in private service at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)
