Kim Abbey Milton, Florida Obituary

Kim Abbey

Kim Abbey, or "maw maw" as most of us knew her, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 11th. She was born in Yokahama, Japan. She moved with her family to Seoul, Korea, where she met the father of her four daughters. Kim moved to the United States in the 1950's, spent most of the past 40 years as a resident of Milton FL, and was a current resident of Pensacola, FL. Kim greatly loved the Lord and was a member of Hickory Hammock Baptist church for many years. A woman with a variety of talents, she spent her time crocheting items and making flower arrangements to gift to everyone from sick members of her church, to her doctors, and family members. Although she lived a life of adventure, she spent most of her time and energy contributing to the lives of her family. She blessed them with stories, shopping trips, her time, finances, colorful sense of humor, spirit of generosity, and most importantly, unconditional love. God gave her the rare ability of being able to tell you exactly what she thought, while also showing others His love, without reserve. Her greatest joys and pride in life could be found with her family . At any point in time you could hear her bragging on one of her daughters, grand children, or great grandchildren. She loved the Lord and found her strength and encouragement in Him. Despite loss and health issues she never lost her faith in God; instead, "embraced that while on this earth He must have a plan for her." She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 35 years, Louis Abbey; her grandson, Sean Michael Jackson; and her grandson, Travis Ray Peoples. She is survived by her daughters, Margie Carter of Pensacola FL, Ellen and husband Vernon Atkinson of Lawrenceville GA, Hellen and husband Jim Pendley of Lawrenceville GA, and JoLynn and husband Doug Peoples of Milton FL, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services for Kim Abbey will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Pastor Carl Gallops officiating. Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service. Micah 6:8 says, "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God."
