Kyla Wyatt Carter - 1958-2013 Kyla W. Carter, 55, passed away at his home in Pace Sunday, December 1, 2013. He is survived by his son, Timothy Jordan Carter (T. J.) of Pensacola; his daughter, Bethany Shell Carter of Century; a granddaughter, Blakeleigh Lynn Borders of Century; and the children’s mother, Paula Warrick Carter of Jay. He is predeceased by his father, Thomas Jefferson Carter and mother, Foye Wyatt Carter both of Berrydale. Also surviving Kyla is his brother, Thomas Richard Carter (Gloria) of Milton and his sister, Sonya Carter Tucker (William) of Montgomery. Nieces are: Heidi Carter DeGuire (Andrew), Keena Carter Oran (Travis) and Mindy Larissa Tucker. Great nieces and nephews are: Joseph DeGuire, Daniel DeGuire, Jonathan DeGuire, Abigail DeGuire, Kinsley Oran and Luke Oran. Kyla was a proud Auburn “War Eagle” 1980 graduate and worked for many years in the agricultural seed industry in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. He loved fishing with his children, bike riding and listening to gospel music. He was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Pace. Services will be conducted by Rev. Richard Williams, Rainsville, AL; Rev. William Tucker, Montgomery, AL and Rev. Andrew DeGuire, Milton. Rev. Clain Roberts, Immanuel, is handling musical selections. Visitation will be Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 10:00 AM with the Memorial Service following at 11:00. Both will be at Lewis Funeral Home, 4777 West Spencer Field Road, Pace, FL. Active pallbearers will be Immanuel Baptist friends John Williams, Ken Merritt, Paul Wyrosdick, and Tim Shuman. Other active pallbearers are Travis Oran, nephew, and John David Reeder, life-long friend. Alternates are Joey and Danny DeGuire, nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Kyla’s Sunday School Class, Singles II, at Immanuel. The family wishes to thank his Immanuel Sunday School Class and the Greeter Ministry for their loving concerns. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Kyla’s name be made to Waterfront Rescue Mission, 380 Herman St, Pensacola, FL 32505.
