Lamar Steele

Lamar Wayne Steele, 82, of Milton, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016. Mr. Steele was born in Laurel Hill, Florida, on September 13, 1934. He was the fourth of six sons born to Joseph Steele & Julia Head Steele. Mr. Steele retired from the F.B.I. Finger Print Identification Specialist, after 37 years of service. He then worked an additional 10 years with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Milton. Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by two brothers: Delmus Steele, and J. S. Steele. Mr. Steele is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Joyce Kaye Steele; a son, Russell W. (Marcia) Steele of Moyock, NC; a daughter, Kimberly G. Steele (R. Michael) Thompson of Columbia, S.C.; and three brothers, Dewitt (Helen) Steele of Baker, FL, Burt (Bobbie) Steele of Athens, GA, and Winston (Barbara) Steele of Baker, FL. Funeral Services for Mr. Steele, will be held at 12:00 noon, on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Milton, with Dr. David Spencer officiating, and Lewis Funeral Home directing. A private burial will be at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the local Benevolence/Joash Fund at the First Baptist Church of Milton; or Doane Memorial Fund at Marbury Baptist Church in Marbury, Maryland.
