Larry Harris

Larry Gene Harris, former Captain in the USMC, helicopter pilot, Viet Nam Veteran, and retired deputy of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016, with his loving wife by his side, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Eula Cantwell Harris; father, William Hyatt Harris; brother, Billy Joe Harris, Albert Lee Harris, and Ronald Ray Harris; and his nephew, Anthony Dale Harris. Larry is survived by his wife, Frankie Van Horn Harris; brothers, Jerry Hyatt and Donald Jay Harris; his children and stepchildren, Larry Gene II, Jack (Karla) Thomas, Melinda Joy Harris, Sarah- Beth Hopton, Amanda Harris (Josh) Rittenberr,Olivia Marie Harris, Michael C. (Elizabeth) Van Horn II, and Joseph Van Horn. Larry also leaves to cherish his memory, his loving nieces, nephews and numerous relatives and friends. Larry will be laid to rest on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at Serenity Gardens Cemetery (6208 Stewart Street, Milton, Florida 32570). Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, has been entrusted with arrangements. The family requests, in lieu of flowers that you please make a donation to the “USMC Toys for Tots”, as that was a charity close to his heart.
