Louise Bass Hawthorne Allen, 89, of Jay, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.
She lived a long life filled with love not only from her family but also from her community. She was a hard working, strong Christian woman, managing to raise eight children, run her own restaurant, growing a garden, her favorite being roses and she had many of those. She attended Ebenezer Church for the greater part of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Hattie Bass; her husbands, Horace Hawthorne (children’s father) and J. Dale Allen; daughter, Frances Lail; two sons, Roy Hawthorne and Robert Hawthorne; several brothers and one sister.
Survivors include five children, Mary Carden, Kenny (Pam) Hawthorne, Linda (Martin) Kealer, Larry (Trisha) Hawthorne, Sandy (Doyle) Moore; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Alberta Windham and Hazel Baldree; one brother, Ed Bass; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Ebenezer Assembly of God Church in Jay. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Ebenezer Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow in Cora Cemetery. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, directing. Pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Ricky Gilbert, Austin Hawthorne, Justin Carden, Damon Poole, Travis Poole, and Timothy Lail.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Jimmy McCaskill, Ray Morris, William Lowery, Milton Lowery and Bud Mote.
