Lucy B. Brooks, 89, of Milton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 18, 2018. She was born on November 6, 1928, in Abbeville, Alabama, and was the second of ten children. Lucy was always proud to be the first class to graduate from Blakely High School in Blakely, Georgia. Lucy married the love of her life, Fred Brooks, on July 2, 1950, and they raised three daughters. Lucy's first career was in the banking business where she worked in Dothan, Alabama, and continued when she moved to Milton, Florida. She later worked at the Santa Rosa Clerk of Courts office where she retired in 1991. She was a charter member of Pine Terrace Baptist Church and was faithful until her illness. She taught Sunday School many years, served as the church clerk, and helped wherever she was needed. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, parents and six siblings. She is survived by her children Kathryn (Clayton) Tolbert, Emily (Billy) Spencer, and Jennifer (John) Adams; grandchildren, Krista (Gary) Mitchell, Clay (Amanda) Tolbert, Will Spencer, Lindsay (Matt) Scales, Kailyn and Jaxon Adams; great-grandchildren, Tate, Seth and Jace Tolbert, Kade and Kole Mitchell and Mackenzie Scales. Visitation will be held at Pine Terrace Baptist Church of Milton from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, with the service immediately following. Officiating will be Bro. Mike Wiggins. A private burial will be held later at Serenity Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Terrace Baptist Church Legacy program. The family wishes to thank the staff of PruittHealth for the love and care given to their loved one during her illness. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, has been entrusted with arrangements.
