Malcolm Sanders Obituary

Malcolm Owen Sanders, age 74, born April 8, 1938 in Pike County Alabama, passed away November 12, 2012. He lived most of his life in Santa Rosa County Florida and was preceeded in death by his parents, Fred and Reppie Sanders and his sister, Sue Sanders. Survivors include his siblings; Lil Sanders Ward, Nettie Sanders, Debra Sanders Grant, Linda Sanders Willke, Waylon Sanders, Wayne Sanders, and Mick Sanders, children; Kimberly Ann Sanders Bollman of Ewa Beach, HI, James Eric Sanders of Crestview, FL, Allison Elizabeth Sanders of Gulf Breeze, FL, and step children Billy Wheeler of Pace, FL, and Kim Knudsen. Grandchildren include Jacob and James Richardson, Michael, Nicholas, Christopher, and Zachary Sanders and step grandchildren Kaitlyn and Tyler Slevin, Caleb and Skylar Wheeler, and Erika and McKenna Knudsen. Great grandchildren are Eliana, Sheri and Marcus Richardson. Malcolm served in the United States Army from December 1960 until December 1963. He retired from the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Department in 2002 after serving for 37 years in the law enforcement field. His great love for law enforcement inspired his son, step son, a nephew and a grandson to proudly take the same career path. Malcolm also dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and siblings. He enjoyed spending time with his family, having coffee with friends, fishing, watching old westerns, reading Louis L'Amour books and watching Alabama Crimson Tide play football (preferably with his son James and grandson Jacob). Malcolm's passing was unexpected and it is still too soon to find the right words to express just how wonderful and loving he was. His family and friends are deeply feeling his loss. Visitation Friday, November 18th from 10:30 to 11:30 at Lewis Funeral Home in Pace. Service at 11:30. Graveside 1:15 at Barrancas National Cemetery. If you prefer or desire to make donations in his honor, Daddy always thought that the local hospice organizations did wonderful work.
