Margaret Martin Obituary

Margaret “Jean” Fleming Martin went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2018. She was 88 years old. Jean was born on July 5, 1930, in Rome, Georgia. She was the third child in a family of seven born to the late Henry Eli Casey and Maybelle Culberson Casey. Jean married a decorated war veteran, Nobert Paul Fleming, in 1946. Nobert died in October of 1955 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Jean married again in 1958 to Leonard Hoyt Martin, also a war veteran (of both World War II and Korea), who died in October 1985. Jean was also predeceased by one of her five children, Phillip Gregory Martin. Jean was diagnosed with Dementia Alzheimer disease in 2012, and never gave up her tenacious struggle with this disease. During these years with loss of memory, she never forgot she was a child of God and Jesus Christ was her Savior and heaven would be her final home. She never forgot her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren right up to the end of her days. She is survived by three sons, Edward (Shayne) Fleming of Pensacola, Florida, Leonard Martin of Royston, Georgia, and Jeffrey (Kathy) Martin of Pensacola, Florida; and one daughter, Charlotte Fleming Brazzeal of Pace, Florida. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Cheree (Lowry) Denty of Pensacola, Florida, Chad (Laura) Brazzeal of Naples, Florida, Stephen Fleming of Saratoga, Utah, Hannah Fleming of Seattle, Washington, Phillip Martin of Royston, Georgia, Aaron Martin of Royston, Georgia, Jesse Johnson of Pensacola, Florida, and Zac Johnson of Notre Dame, Indiana; four great-grandchildren, Jay Denty and Ansley Denty of Pensacola, Florida, Hope Brazzeal and Bryce Brazzeal of Naples, Florida; one sister, Sue Farmer (Marvin) Tanner of Adairsville, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Jean was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always helped her family whether babysitting, offering a place to stay or just giving her time to listen. She was a wonderful Christian role model and so loved. She will be missed so very much by all her family but we are all blessed to know that she is “Home.” Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, Florida, with her son, Ed Fleming, officiating. Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., prior to the services. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Lewis Funeral Home directing. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff at Victorian Manor, who cared for her for two years; and to Sandy Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Covenant Hospice Care, who provided loving care during the last two weeks of Jean’s time here on earth.
