Mary H. Cayton, 89, passed away on October 30, 2017, at her home in Navarre, Florida. Mary was born in Creedmore North Carolina to Mertha and Margaret Hockaday on March 1, 1928. Mary and George Cayton married on August 20, 1948 in Durham, North Carolina and had 69 wonderful years together. Mary came to know the Lord in her twenties at a revival that she and George attended in Durham. She was a real inspiration to many over the years, very active in church and served in many areas including teaching, choir, and women’s ministries. George served as Deacon, Choir Director, and many other capacities. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Mertha and Margaret Hockaday; her sisters, Isabel Matherly, Evelyn Barwick; and her brothers, William Hockaday and Joseph Franklin Hockaday. Mary is survived by her husband, George; son, Gary; sister, Katie Wilhite; and two grandsons, Gregory, and Garrett and his wife, Tasha. The family of Mary Cayton wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to the First Baptist Church of Navarre. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Navarre, with Dr. Jensen Petersen, Senior Pastor, officiating. Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel, has been entrusted with arrangements.
