Mary Ruth Blanton Fortune, 83, of Floridatown, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019. Mrs. Fortune was born in Floridatown, raised in Chumuckla, and lived in Pensacola for a number of years. She attended Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Pensacola. Mrs. Fortune is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Claudell Fortune; a brother, A. J. Blanton; a sister, Jewel Reeder; and her parents, Joseph Blanton and Anniece Adams Blanton. Mrs. Fortune is survived by her children, Beth (Dewayne) Williams, Susan (Archie) Jackson, Deborah (David) Harrison, Richard Fortune, Sandra Elmore, Cheryl (Ed) Brown, and Jeffery (Bobby Jean) Fortune; 20 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Funeral Services for Mrs. Fortune will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2019, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel with Dewayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Welcome Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. Her grandsons will be pallbearers.
