Mary Frances (Lassiter) Sprague, 86, of Milton, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Mary was born February 23, 2017, in Century, Florida. She was raised and lived in the Cobbtown community of Jay most of her life. She moved to Milton about forty years ago and joined Pace Assembly of God Church. She was a faithful church member, filled with the Holy Ghost, and shared her love of Jesus with her family and friends. When the doors of the church were open she was sure to be there. She did not miss church! Mrs. Sprague loved her children and grandchildren, and loved to sew and make things for them. They were the joy of her life. She loved to cook for her family, and as a child of the depression era - wasted nothing! Whatever was in season was cooked, jellied, jammed or canned. Even in her Alzheimer days, if she was mad or sad, she would begin singing praises, praying through, and speaking in tongue. She would be over her mood quickly and once again a joy to her children. Mrs. Sprague is predeceased by her parents, Burnie Clifton and Winnie (Pugh) Lassiter; the father of her children, Earl Nicholas; two brothers, J. D. Lassiter and Clifton Lassiter; and three sisters-in-law, June Lassiter, Hazel Lassiter and Ruby Lassiter. She is survived by one son, Dennis Elton Nicholas; one daughter, Janice Nicholas (Philip) Mathews; two grandchildren, Scott Mathews and Robyn Mathews; a host of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Almie Lee Lassiter. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2017, at Cobbtown Holiness Church, Jay, with Rev. Jim Lassiter and Rev. Glyn Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
