Michael Harrell Obituary

Michael Thomas Harrell, 50, of Milton passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Mr. Harrell was born in Savannah, Georgia, and had resided in the Milton area since 2000. He retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service, and retired as an Air Traffic Control Chief Petty Officer. Michael was a volunteer as a Phone Lung Buddy with the Lung Cancer Alliance, and was a member of the Saint Sylvester’s Catholic Church in Navarre. Michael was also an avid lifelong Fan of the University of Georgia. Michael is survived by his wife, Patricia Harrell of Milton, Florida; his three children, Andrew (Samantha) Harrell of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Sean (Winnie) Harrell of Orlando, and Haley Kay Harrell of Milton (Auburn University); six grandchildren, Brielynn, Chase, Easton, James, Lena, and Willow; his parents, Tom and Diana R. Harrell of Inverness, Florida; two sisters, Heather (Joe) Hodges of Washington, D.C. and Jenny (John) Thiel of Washington, D.C. ; and a close and loving, large extended family. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Lewis Funeral Home, of Milton. Funeral Services for Mr. Harrell will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Navy Chapel aboard N.A.S. Pensacola with Father John Kelley of Saint Sylvester’s Catholic Church officiating and Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing. Following the service, there will be a reception at the CPO Club aboard N.A.S. Pensacola In Lieu of flowers, the family requests, that memorial contributions be made to the Lung Cancer Alliance Group, P.O. Box 418372, Boston, Mass. 02241-8372
