Myrtle Lee Weekley, 93, entered into to her heavenly home on Monday, May 22, 2017. Myrtle was born on April 25, 1924, in Mulat, Florida, to John Mac Peterson and Carrie Wingate Peterson. Myrtle loved the Lord her God with all her heart and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She moved to Pace where she met and married the love of her life, Gilbert Thomas Weekley. Together, they had a beautiful life blessed with four children. She lived most of her life in Santa Rosa County, Florida, except for two years while her husband served in the Army during WWII. Myrtle and Gilbert both spent their lives loving God and their family, serving others and traveling. She had a strong desire to pray for everyone and feed everyone until her very last day here on earth. She was a homemaker who was devoted to her family and her church. She had also been a Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Sunday school teacher and Prayer Team Leader. She was a faithful member of Pace Assembly of God Church where she was known as Sister Weekley and served in children’s ministry for over 35 years. She is remembered by her family, friends and church as a kind, Godly woman who loved unconditionally and was passionate about bringing others to the Lord. She was lovingly called Nanny by her grandchildren and many others, as well as, Myrt, Aunt Myrt, Sister Myrtle Lee and Sister Weekley. Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Weekley; sons, Thomas Weekley and Wayne Weekley; daughter, Jane Weekley Nettles; grandson, Craig Nettles; father, John Mac Peterson; mother, Carrie Wingate Peterson; siblings, Thomas Owens, Earl Peterson, Claude Peterson, Clarence Peterson and Horace Peterson, Thelma Perritt, Del Marie Norris and Edna Mae Gallops; and step-grandchild, Scott Perritt. Myrtle is survived by her son, Michael (Sue) Weekley; grandchildren, Christa (Michael) Spooneybarger, Leigh Anne Weekley, Melissa (Jansen) McLendon; great-grandchildren, Karson and Peyton Spooneybarger, Allie Nettles, Jaxon and Jase McLendon; sister, Inez Godwin; granddaughter-in-law, Leighann Nettles; step-grandchildren, Jeff and Barry Perritt; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Pace Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Joey Rogers and Rev. Glyn Lowery Jr. officiating. Burial will follow services in Strickland Cemetery, Milton, Florida, with Lewis Funeral Home directing. The family will receive visitors 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., prior to the service.
