Nancy Kilpatrick Milton, Florida Obituary

Nancy Kilpatrick

Nancy Sue Kilpatrick, 78, of Milton, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016. Nancy was born in Fayetteville, WV, but relocated to Tampa, FL, while in high school. She graduated from Hillsborough High School and met Bill, who was serving in the Air Force at MacDill AFB. After many enjoyable (and often hilarious) double dates with their lifelong friends, Gail and Jolly, they were married. Together, they had three children, Mark, Steve and Sherry. They lived in Tampa, FL; Mountain Home, ID; and Warner Robins, GA; before finally settling in Panama City, FL in 1968. In Panama City, the family was engaged in a wide variety of activities and made many enduring friendships. For several years, Nancy worked at Bay Radiology as a medical transcriptionist. Nancy was at her best as the center of her vibrant family and she often participated in their games and hobbies. She regarded her children's friends as extended family members and they often stayed at the Kilpatrick home for several days at a time. She served as the Librarian for Springfield Baptist Church and was frequently involved in church projects helping those less fortunate. In 1979, the family relocated to Milton, FL. There, the family continued their busy schedule and was involved in many activities. Nancy regularly participated in projects at First Baptist Church that assisted others less fortunate - most notably with the church food bank and Family Promise. Mark was born mentally impaired and Nancy was a fierce advocate for those with special needs. She served on many committees and project teams, improving the lives of countless citizens. Nancy was an early advocate of a healthy lifestyle. She prepared healthy meals and exercised regularly, decades before it became mainstream. She exhibited incredible stamina and physical strength. Above all, Nancy was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored and was loved by her two grandchildren, Taylor and William. She epitomized selfless service and dedicated her life to helping others. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. The Kilpatrick family would to express their gratitude to the staff of Covenant Hospice for the love and care given. They would also like to thank their friends and neighbors for their support and kindness. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2016, in the Bamberg Chapel at First Baptist Church of Milton. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, www.ocrf.org.
