Nellie Carol Lawrence McKinley, 82, died peacefully on January 29, 2015, at her home in Pace, Florida, after a brief struggle with cancer. Ms. McKinley was born in May 29, 1932, in Coffeeville, Alabama, the daughter of Alfonso Lawrence and Nellie Cox. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester Roy McKinley; son, Michael Bruce McKinley; her mother, father, two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her three sons, Don (Regina) Dees, Navarre, Florida; David (Karen) McKinley and Alan McKinley, Pace, Florida; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Joe) Johnson, Jamie Hairelson, Chad (Crystal) McKinley, and Kyle (DeAnndra) McKinley; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel and McKinley Johnson and Tyler and Owen McKinley; one brother-in-law, Thomas (Mary) McKinley and dear friends, Betty Gimlin and the Rowell Family. Services for Ms. McKinley will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel (West Spencerfield Road, Pace, Florida) with the Rev. Joe Johnson, Jr., officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. till the service begins at 3:00 p.m. As an act of love and honor for their mother and grandmother, her sons and grandsons will act as her active pallbearers with nephew, Mark Efstathiou; and her great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery, Chumuckla, with Lewis Funeral Home directing.
