Oscar VonAxelson Obituary

Oscar Eric VonAxelson passed away September 12, 2014. Oscar retired from the Santa Rosa School Board in 1997. He served on the Board of Directors of the Escambia River Co-Op for 18 years. He was born in Munson, Florida, and was a life-long resident of Santa Rosa County. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria, of 30 plus years; three sisters, Helen Riley, Mearl Dyal and her husband Don, Mabel Turman and husband Rodney; one brother, Albert VonAxelson Jr., and his wife Codylene; two sisters-in-law, Louise VonAxelson and Dee VonAxelson. Gloria and Oscar were very blessed with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren - for a total of 43! Before his illness, one of Oscar's greatest enjoyments in life was hunting with friends, basketball and baseball. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2014. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel with Elder Wayne Blocker and Rev. Alton Nixon officiating. Burial to follow in the Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Holt. The VonAxelson family would like to thank the following men and their families for serving as pallbearers. We realize that some of these men are no longer with us but wanted to remember the special relationships that each one of the men had with Oscar.
