Patricia Ann “Pat” Merritt, 59, of Milton Florida, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018, in her home. She was an avid NASCAR fan and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Pat was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 19, 1959. She moved to Pensacola in her early childhood. Pat married the love of her life, Jacob Merritt, when she was 18 years old and made Milton her home with her husband and children in the late 1980's. She was a dedicated manager for Tom Thumb Food Store for 20 plus years until injury forced her into early retirement. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Howard Cable; her brother, Clayton Cable; and her husband, Jacob Merritt Sr. She is survived by her mother, Jean Cable; her sons, Jacob (Amanda) Merritt, and Clinton (Amber) Merritt; daughter, Catherine (Dewayne) Morris; six grandchildren, Lane, Kayleigh, Madison, Ian, Alice and Bella; siblings, David (Ellen) Cable, Frankie (Cindy) Cable and Lisa Peterson; several nieces and nephews; and her loyal dog, Bandit. Funeral Services for Pat will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial will follow services at Crain Cemetery, Milton, Florida. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
