Philip Dunn

Philip Shaw Dunn born on June 25,1940 passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2013 after a long illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, James M. Dunn and Cleo Shaw Dunn. Philip is survived by his wife, Judy Holland Dunn; children, James Jay (Sharon)Dunn, Donald Kelly (Jennifer) Dunn, Shari Dunn Stalnaker (Duane), John Stacey Godwin, and Melissa Godwin Bates; brothers, James Brownie Dunn (Janet) and Edward Locke Dunn; grandchildren, Zachary Blaine Godwin, Lindsey Marie Stalnaker, Payton Angelina Gray Burchett, Madison Renee Dunn, Emilie Nicole Stalnaker, Graeson Evangeline Burchett, Jackson Tyler Godwin, Benjamin Angus Bates, Elijah Brendon Godwin, Lucas James Dunn, Regan Elizabeth Dunn; great granddaughter, Lilah Kenzington Driver; nieces, Jessica Dunn Harris and CeAnna Dunn; and nephew, Jeffrey Dunn. He had a long teaching career at Santa Rosa Christian School, Pensacola Christian College and at Allentown High School. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing with his golf buddies. After his teaching career, most of his time was spent working in the oil and gas business. After his retirement and due to his illness, he spent his time researching genealogy of the Bible. But above all else, his grandchildren and his great-grandchild were the light of his life. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday, November 20 at 2:00p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Ronnie Bearden, officiating. Burial will be held at Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
