Rita Maddox

Rita Carole Cooley Maddox, 66, of Munson, Florida, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018, in Milton, Florida. She was born in Pensacola, Florida, to parents J.D. and Faye Cooley, on September 26, 1952, and she lived most of her life in Santa Rosa County. She was a 1971 graduate of Munson High School. She was a member of the McLellan Church of Christ. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin Maddox; her parents; her nephew, Shane Roberson; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Teresa Maddox. She is survived by her daughter, Ashlee Faye (Raymond) Bechtold of Munson; her son, Michael Jeremy (Melanie) Maddox of Pensacola; sisters, Cynthia (Rennie) Jenkins and Sherry (Clayton) Roberson; brothers, Jerry Cooley and John (Crystal) Cooley; five grandchildren Emilee, Harlee, Nigel Bechtold; Courtney and Haylee Maddox; sisters-in-law Kathy (Greg) Jernigan and Shelia (Greg) Johnson; brothers-in-law Danny (Laura) Maddox and Donnie Maddox; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and a myriad of friends. Visitation for Rita Maddox will be held 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Lewis Funeral Home in Milton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at the McLellan Church of Christ with Rev. Wes Mathews officiating. Burial will follow services in the church cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Santa Rosa Health and Rehab Center and Covenant Hospice for their care. We especially thank her many devoted friends at SRHRC who visited her and encouraged her during her last days. Rita had a vivacious, witty, friendly, and loving personality. Her family and friends deeply loved her and she will be sorely missed.
