Robert H. Simmons, 75 of Milton, FL left his earthly home on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. He was born to the late Herbert and Myrtle Simmons on September 12, 1938 in Santa Rosa County. He served in the United States Marine Corps. And had worked all his life as a carpenter and painter for various contractors. He loved to garden and grew some of the best vegetables you could eat. Fishing was another hobby of his and he caught a lot of bass thru the years. He is survived by his wife of 51 wonderful years together, Diane Clayton Simmons. Also surviving him are his two daughters, Gloria Ann Simmons Warkulwiz of Alamogordo, NM, Karen Simmons McCoy of Valdosta, Ga., grandchildren, Chrissy, Courtney, Jasmine, Jamie, Daniel. He is also survived by his brothers, Rufus Simmons of North Carolina and Roy Simmons of Milton, FL; and sister, Kathleen Simmons Couch of Detroit. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel with Rev. John Edwards and Elder Wayne Blocker officiating. Visitation will be Friday, April 4, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. He will lay to rest at Hickory Hammock Cemetery.
