Robert Mann Obituary

Robert Mann, 75, of Milton, Florida, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019. Bob was born on October 2, 1943, in Montgomery, Alabama. He joined the Army shortly after graduating from Bay High School in Panama City, Florida, and served in Vietnam before marrying Suzanne Deen in 1968. They settled in Milton, Florida, where Bob devoted 32 years to the Florida Department of Corrections with the Probation and Parole Office. Even after retirement, Bob continued to serve his community by teaching Criminal Justice at Pensacola State College. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, which usually involved traveling, camping, and boating up and down the Blackwater River. He often surprised friends and family by making up new words, walking his special hop-walk, and generally forcing enjoyment out of even the grumpiest person. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Dassler, and his parents, Mary Elizabeth Roach Mann and Ralph Burton Mann. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne Deen Mann, of Milton, Florida; a sister, Mary Charles (Henry) Parker, of Milton, Florida; a daughter, Leslie (Steve) Dobbs, of Germantown, Tennessee; a grandson, John Baden Dobbs; a niece, Meredith (Mike) Mayeri; two nephews, Bryce (Brigid) Merrill and John Parker; four great-nephews; and several dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. A private interment of his ashes will be held at a later date. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, has been entrusted with arrangements. The family wishes to thank the staff of Pruitt Health, Santa Rosa Medical Center, West Florida Hospital, and Berryhill Manor for the love and care given to Bob during his time of need. Bob was a strong advocate of Alzheimer’s Association research and support, and he would be honored by donations to those causes in his name. DONATIONS BY MAIL: Alzheimer’s Association Support 225 N.
