MSGT, Retired Robert “Wayne” Parker lost his battle to cancer on Friday, May 18th at Sacred Heart Hospital CCU with his wife, Sharon, son, Tommy, and daughter, Rene by his side. He was born on February 25, 1941 in Pensacola, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife, best friend, inspiration, and rock for 52 years of marriage. Wayne is also survived by his son, Tom (Gail), Aaron (Coretta), Cynthia (Jamie), Morgan, Abby, Alyssa, Jarred and Jacob, daughter Shannon (Kevin), Ashley (Jeremy), Mason & Brenan, Matthew (April), Chandler, Melissa, Aliyah and Dennis, daughter Rene (Steve), sister Linda (Jack), sister n’ law Pat Porter, brother in-law Roy Pruett (Sandy), brother Larry (Paul), Aunt Sally (Jim). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alpha Parker, brother Gary Parker and niece Shelly Taylor. Wayne and Sharon were married in 1960 in San Francisco, CA. He was a Vietnam Veteran, served in the US Army from 1959-1967 (220th Aviation Company-Catkillers). From 1977-1991 he served with the 711th SOS at Duke Field, FL. He retired from Gulf Power Company after 35 years. Wayne was a member of the Scottish Rite and a 32° Mason. He also worked for Twelve Oaks for five years after he retired from Gulf Power Company. He loved his family, neighbors and puppies. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Critical Care Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital, especially Dr. Phillips, Dr. Wagner, Karen (Holt) Branston, and the nurses, also the nurses of Saint Catherine’s Ward (Juanita), the Sacred Heart Pastoral Care staff (Larry and Louanne), Wound Care Nurses (Sue and Andrea), and the Home Health Care Nurses, (Peoples Home Health), (Vivian), our friends and neighbors that have been so kind (Peggy, Justo, Paula, Jason, Shannon, Matthew, Kari, Kelvin, Patti, Mary, Craig, Denny, Lista, and Greg Bradt). We would also like to thank and name the countless number of friends, even strangers we met at Sacred Heart Hospital, who prayed for our dad and our entire family. There are just too many to mention. We would also like to thank his extended family in South Florida, Alabama, Georgia and California. Per his wishes there will be a private family viewing at Lewis Funeral Home followed by cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the American Cancer Society (Bladder Cancer) and PAWS (Panhandle Animal Welfare). Thank you. Forever there will be a piece of us missing. We love and miss you so much my darling, dad, Papa.
