Roger Gallan Obituary

Roger D. Gallan, Sr., 61, of Navarre, FL, formerly of Monroe, LaSalle, and Temperance, MI, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 20, 2013, after a tragic accident. Roger was born on December 10, 1951 to Lillian and Albert Gallan, Sr. On April 28, 1972, he married the love of his life, Deborah Cochenour, with whom he shared 37+ years of marriage before her death from cancer in 2010. He worked for Ford Motor Company for over 30 years, many of them as a Journeyman Welder and was very active in Local 723. After moving to Florida, Roger worked at Tom Thumb and volunteered in many organizations. He also became a Notary Public and officiated weddings on the beach. He was a valued member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Navarre, FL, where he was an honored member of the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), Music Ministry, Eucharistic Ministry, and as a Lector. In Michigan, he belonged to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Temperance and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monroe. Roger enjoyed spending time with family, volunteering, working, bowling, golfing, and most other outdoor activities. He is survived by his children: Charlene (John) St. Pierre, of Macomb, MI; Roger (Paula) Gallan of Navarre, FL; and Dawn (Anthony) Jackson of Navarre, FL. He is greatly missed by grandchildren Rachel and Allyson Gallan, Madeline, Stefanie, Jay, and Justin St. Pierre, and Liliana Jackson. A funeral mass will be held at St. Sylvester Church in Navarre on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 6 p.m., with visitation at 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Michigan in August. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Sylvester Knights of Columbus or to a charity of choice.
