Ronald E. "Ronnie" Batten, 86, of Pensacola, passed away peacefully Monday, October 6, 2014. Ronnie was one of nine children born to the late Gideon and Mary Batten. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Federal Civil Service Whiting Field. He was a respected family man and loved hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his son, Donald E. Batten. Ronnie is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Erma L. Batten, of Pensacola, Florida; three grandchildren: David (Angie) Batten of Gulf Breeze, Florida; Angel Jordan of Pace, Florida; and Crystal (Thomas) Rowell of Pace, Florida; five great-grandchildren: Miya, Saige, Hannah, Taylor and Bailey; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Batten of Milton, FL. Funeral services for Ronnie will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2014, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in McLellan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: David Batten, Nicky Mathews, Don Murph, Kenny Harvell, Thomas Rowell and Ray Smith. Visitation will be Thursday, October 9, 2014, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.
