Ronald Verne Hawkins, 72, of Milton, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017. Ronald attended schools in Santa Rosa County and was a graduate of Pensacola Junior College. He attended Florida State and later transferred to University of South Florida at Tampa. Ronald had a life-long passion for reading and collecting books. He prided himself in growing an immaculate, well-kept vegetable garden. He also enjoyed wood working and making beautiful lawn chairs. The hobbies he enjoyed was hunting, fishing and camping out with his niece and nephews. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Milton. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Edna Baxley Hawkins of Milton. He is survived by two sisters: Frances Darnell (Milton) and Janet Simpson (Florala, AL) Wilford. One niece, Mary Darnell (Milton), and three nephews Warren, Whitney (Sherry), and Wesley Simpson (all of Florala). Funeral services will be held June 16, 2017 with visitation at 11:00. A graveside service will follow at Crain Cemetery with Elder Wayne Blocker officiating. The family would like to express their many thanks to the personnel from various agencies who rendered their professional help during Ronald’s illness. The services provided by the compassionate team of helpers from Hospice are also greatly appreciated.
