Samuel N. Smith 1935-2012 Samuel N. Smith, age 76, of Pace went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 3, 2012. Sam was born and raised in Evergreen, AL. Once out of school , he moved to Pensacola to begin work at Monsanto and fulfilled 38 years of service there. In addition to being an instrument mechanic at Monsanto, Sam enjoyed building houses for family and friends. Sam devoted his life to his family and to his Savior Jesus Christ. He was an active member of Wallace Baptist Church and enjoyed serving the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Newton Smith and Obnetta Powell Smith Grace; and his sisters, Marjorie Smith and Peggy Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley Smith; his children, Todd Smith (Charisse), Julie Bragg (Lamar), and Jenny Ashford (Mitch); grandchildren, Brandon and Shane Bragg, Allie and Carlee Smith, Rachel and Trent Short, Samantha, Logan, and Mary Katherine Ashford; sisters, Cherry Patten (Herman), Jane Brooks (Wayne), and Bernice Martello (Gerald); sister-in-laws, Ann Cook and Joan New (Jerry); numerous, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Wallace Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Monday, February 5, 2012 beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. LaDon Hall and Rev. Andy Martin, officiating. Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel handling arrangements. Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wallace Baptist Church Building Fund. Friends may send condolences and share fond memories with the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.net
