Saundra Talley Milton, Florida Obituary

Saundra Talley

Saundra Lee Welch Chambers Hobby Talley, 77, of Bakersfield, California, ran into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Sandy was a wonderful wife, mother, Nonny, and Child of God. She adored all four of her children, making each know how special they were to her in leading up to her final days here on earth. Saundra was born on May 29, 1940 in Little Rock, Arkansas. At just 12 years old, she accepted Jesus as her Savior and her relationship with Our God and Savior remained a priority throughout her life. She was a Class of 1958 alumni from West High School in Wichita, Kansas. In 1960, she graduated from Wichita State University with a Secretarial Degree. Saundra served many areas of the Santa Rosa community in the 1970's. She was long time sorority member of Beta Sigma Phi. Saundra had a lengthy career in real estate in the Pensacola area, working for Old South Properties, JME Realty, and Coldwell Banker. She truly enjoyed helping people find just the right home! Prior to her move back to Florida, she was an active member of Dove Creek Church in Bakersfield, CA. Though these dates and details mark important events in Sandy’s life, she will most likely be remembered for so much more—like her beautiful smile that was ever-present on her face and how she brought sunshine and laughter to any situation. Sandy had an uncanny ability to encourage others and make them feel heard. She blessed her children and grandchildren by inspiring them to love life and make the best of what they had. She persevered to make every situation better and her life was a testament to her loving words, filled with faith and wisdom. Sandy will be remembered for her gentle and caring spirit. She would be the first to help out someone in need or simply be a listening ear. Her culinary skills will not be forgotten..... She could order take out from anywhere and claim it as her own or you might get her to cook and it was always burnt to perfection! Saundra was passionate about being thrifty and was thrilled about scoring a great deal. However, nothing brought her more pleasure than time spent with her family and loved ones. She is already greatly missed. We Love you, Mom. A bushel and a peck and a hug around your neck, we love you! She is predeceased in death by her parents, Jack and Troy Welch; her husband, Floyd O. Chambers (1972); her husband Wallace Hobby (1997); and her brother, David Welch. Saundra is survived by her husband, Larry Talley of Bakersfield, California; two sons, Christopher (Kim) Chambers, of Grand Junction, CO, and Richard (Nina) Hobby of Milton, FL; two daughters, Melissa (Jerry) Wells, of Pace, FL, and Stephanie Chambers, of Colorado Springs, CO; and one sister, Jeannie Whaley, of Poplar Bluffs, MO. She also leaves to cherish her memory, seven grandchildren: Matthew, Addison, and Nicole Chambers; Logan Hobby; Justin (Shelley) Wells; Taylor (Slade) Hunt; Kelsi Fitzpatrick; Madison Moore; and one great-grandchild, Ellie Rose Hunt. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2017, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel (4777 West Spencerfield Road, Pace, Florida 32571) with Pastor Zack Sims officiating. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., prior to the service.
