I was at Menwith Hill from the fall of 63 to December 65. I worked in Ops, but not under Ted. I always admired and respected him for professionalism and humanity. In the Fall of 64 I was summoned to appear as a witness in a traffic accident by a court in the Midlands. I was not in his chain of command, and I could have provide my own transporation. The day before I was to appear, he told me he had arranged for a car and driver to provide transportation. I did then and will always have, a great amount of respect for 1st Sgt Ted Sands

Mary and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Sands family. Our families served together in Augsburg, Germany. Ted, one of the most professional solders I have had the privilege to serve with, reflected the fabric of honor, duty, country. Thank God for men of courage and family as displayed by Ted Sands.

I remember Ted from when we served together at Menwith Hill Station in North Yorkshire, Great Britain in the 1960s. We both did the same job of signal communications during the cold war period. My best wishes to Ted's friends and family. I cannot attend as I live in England and it is a long way from the USA! My thoughts and prayers are with you and I know he is now in a better place. Yours. Sam Walker
