Vaudie Beatrice Polk Foster was born January 11, 1920, to Ed and Josephine "Jodie" Polk. She married Willie in 1938. During the following years she worked as a beautician, a telephone operator for Southern Bell, sales person in two local stores, and retired from Jay Hospital as a medical clerk. She grew up in Jay, Florida, during the years of depression, where she learned the value of hard work. She and her mother took in washing and ironing to provide for the family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Aubrey, Douglas, and I.V. She is survived by her son, Wayland (Hilda) Foster; granddaughter, Anja (Don) DeLoach, grandson, Shayne Foster; great-granddaughter, Jessica DeLoach; sister, Vida Lauruhn; niece Carla (Stephen) Valdes; and great-niece, Ashlee Valdes. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at First Baptist Church Jay. Burial will follow services in Jay Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., prior to the services. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, has been entrusted with arrangements.
