Walter Jeffers Milton, Florida Obituary

Walter Jeffers

Walter Lexie Jeffers, Sr., passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019. He was also affectionately known as Jeff or Bubba. Dad was born March 7, 1937, in Florence, South Carolina. He married Syble A. Strickland on June 15, 1955. He served in the United States Navy as a GS 1st Class from May 1954 – 1962. He sustained injuries while serving his country resulting in a 100% permanent veteran disability classification. He lived and died a proud veteran. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Association. After being honorably discharged from the United States Armed forces, he pursued a vocation in Barber School. He opened and operated a successful Barber Shop. He was a voracious Bible reader and daily quoted scripture to support many of life’s quandaries. He believed and taught that acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior was the path to eternal salvation. Dad was an insatiable conversationalist. Those fortunate to know him liked and enjoyed listening to his unique perspectives. He is preceded in death by his wife, Syble A. Jeffers; and his brother, James McCowan. Left to love and enjoy many memories are his sister, Lexie Mae (Donnie) Harris; brother, Fletcher Jeffers; his children, Diana, Pat, Walter, and Betty; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Dad, know that you are loved and will be missed! Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2019, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial will follow services in Memory Park Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Please, if you would like, come by and help us celebrate Dad’s life, share memories, pray, laugh, cry and say goodbye.
