William Earl Farrington Obituary

William Earl “Gator” Farrington, 88, from Milton, Florida, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015.




Gator was born on April 5, 1927. He and his twin sister, Earline, were the youngest of three children born to James and Laura Farrington. He graduated from Milton High School in 1944 and served in World War II and the Korean War with the US Navy. After 30 years he retired from civil service at NAS Pensacola in 1984. He was one of the founding members of Grace Bible Church of Milton and served on the board of directors of Gospel Projects, INC. He loved serving his community with his family through his restaurant, Gator’s Seafood in Milton, Florida, which he opened in 1975, with his wife Voncille.


Gator is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Voncille (Hobbs) Farrington; his two sisters, Louise McLellan and Erlene Tompkins; and his parents, James Farrington and Laura (Broxson) Farrington.


He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Keith) Jeffers of Milton, Florida; his son, Bill (Jennifer) Farrington of Milton, Florida; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jackie) Bennett, Brandon Bennett, Zachary Farrington, and Abigail Farrington; and two great-grandchildren, Allie Jae Bennett and Troy Bennett.


Visitation hours will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Grace Bible Church in Milton.


Funeral Services for Gator Farrington will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2016, also at Grace Bible Church in Milton, with Reverend Tod Brainard officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jeffrey Bennett, Brandon Bennett, Zachary Farrington, Max Williams, Charles Scott, and Pat McLellan. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, directing.


The family would like to thank Dr. Aaron Stein, Dr. Michael Hartsfield, Dr. John Lee and Regency Hospice Care.
