William Kerr Obituary

William Marshall Kerr “Friar Tuck” 1/16/49 – 10/11/14 William Marshall Kerr went to his heavenly home unexpectedly from a motorcycle accident. He was participating in a "Combat Veteran’s Motorcycle Association (CVMA) Rally and Ride" to raise money for charity. As a young man, Marshall fought for our country in Vietnam with the US Army. While there he was injured and returned to combat several times. For his service he received two purple hearts. These experiences shaped his life-long search for healing. To his Vet buddies he was known as “Friar Tuck”, and served as the Chaplain for his chapter of CVMA 20-9. CVMA provided Marshall a second family of brothers with an honor code of veterans helping veterans. He counseled vets returning home from war. Through his healing, he showed others healing is possible - that God is good. He did this with the best smile in the world, a unique sense of humor and a laid-back-style. Now, Marshall is surrounded by God’s love in Heaven with his mother, Mary Kerr; father, William Kerr; father-in-law, Alton Harris; and sister-in-law, Tami Kerr. The family who remains here are: his wife Debbie Kerr; daughters: Christine Kerr (Don Oliver) and daughter Hailey Gregory, Elizabeth Kerr (Bubba Shealy) and daughters Alexis Kerr and Rowan Shealy; his niece considered a daughter Jessica Jones (Jonathan Jones) and son Mason Jones; brother Terry Kerr; mother-in law Murriel Harris; sister-in law Becky Jones (Rusty Jones). Marshall felt the presence of God most joyfully outdoors in nature. So we welcome all who may join us to celebrate and honor him. We will gather on November 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Eden State Park, 181 Eden Garden Road, Pt. Washington, FL 32545 in Walton County (850) 231-4214. Please wear casual, comfortable clothes and bring your open heart. Our family has many thanks to give. First, we would like to thank God for sharing Marshall with us. We thank Marshall for the love he had for us in his heart. We appreciate the uplifting prayers and loving thoughts of our friends. Many heartfelt thanks to everyone with CVMA that took care of Marshall when we were not there and are graciously taking care of us in his stead. Lastly, thanks to Eden State Park for all their kindness and consideration. We deeply appreciate the opportunity to celebrate Marshall’s life under the same majestic old oak tree where Marshall and Debbie were married 25 years ago.
