William Randolph Statler William Randolph (“Rudy” or “Bill”) Statler of Pace, FL, went to his final duty station on September 1, 2011. He was born September 20, 1937, to Woodrow and Hazel (Bollinger) Statler in Perry County, MO. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Frances Statler; brother-in-law, Charles Engelhart; and nephew, Joe Engelhart. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Statler, Pace, FL; son, Daryl Statler, Pace, FL; daughter, Leslie Statler, Milton, FL; granddaughter, Desiree Statler (Richard Beach), Milton, FL; grandson, Oshea Statler, Pace, FL; sister, Joy Engelhart, Jackson, MO; brothers, Gene (Judi) Statler, New London, MO, and Glenn (Karen) Statler, Jackson, MO; many nieces, nephews, and his 4-legged buddy Desmond. William graduated from Jackson High School, Jackson, MO, in 1956 and joined the Navy that year. During his career as a Navy Seabee, he was stationed at/with USNTC, Great Lakes, IL; CHB1, Williamsburg, VA; NFA, Cartagena, Spain; ASA, McMurdo Sound, Antarctica; NAVSCON, Port Huememe, CA; NMCB7, Davisville, RI; NSA, Danang, RVN; NAVSCON, Davisville, RI; CBMU302, RVN; ADCOP PJC, Pensacola, FL; NSO La Maddalena, Sardinia, Italy; NETPOC, Pensacola, FL; NSA Diego Garcia, BIOT; NMCB62, Gulfport, MS. He retired in Pensacola, FL, as a Master Chief Petty Officer on January 31, 1982, after 23 years. His civilian career included time at Del-Jen at NAS Whiting Field, the University of West Florida as their Building Maintenance Supervisor, and Escambia County as their Facilities Maintenance Coordinator. Upon his retirement from Escambia County in September 2006, he and Mary spent their time traveling across the United States in their Scamp and having fun with family, friends, and sometimes just each other as they embraced their golden years. He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge, having recently celebrated 50 years of service and brotherhood, and of ERML. Visitation will be held from 5-7PM Monday, September 5, 2011 at the funeral home Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel with Rev. Charlie Elliott, officiating. . Burial will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery. Friends may send condolences and share fond memories with the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.net.
