Maurice Sands

Maurice M. Sands, (Mickey) went to be with our Lord on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 while at his residence surrounded by his family in Silver Springs, Florida. Mickey was born in Lost Creek, West Virginia on October 17th, 1936. He loved God, was a loving husband and a devoted family man. He said the greatest day of his life was the day he married his wife Betty. Betty and Mickey were together for 60 years and have 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mickey graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree and went on to get his Masters degree in Education from the University of Maryland. He worked as a science teacher and later a school administrator. He was very successful and diverse in his career. He loved people and sharing the dream of financial freedom. He built an Amway distributorship in 35 states and 4 countries. He also had a passion for basketball and was a basketball official at the high school and college level. As a basketball player in high school Mickey was voted All- State in West Virginia but he always talked about team and others in everything he did more than his personal accomplishments. His life was blessed and well lived. Mickey is survived by his wife, Betty E. Sands; his three children and their spouses, Rodney and Pam Sands, Steven and Kim Sands, Debbie and Antony Schmidt; and grandchildren, Danny and wife Haley Sands, Ryan Sands, Paul Sands, Michael Sands, David Schmidt, and Christina Schmidt. Mickey will be greatly missed by all those who knew and love him.
