Louise Hanna

Precious and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, servant and Christ follower. Louise Marie Batchlet Hanna, 86, passed away quietly on April 4th in the care of Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs. Louise was born to Ralph and Hildred (Chess) Batchlet in Cleveland, Ohio July 8, 1930 and grew up in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Houghton Preparatory Academy and Erie Commercial College. She retired from the insurance world as a CPIW and Agent 11 years ago after more than 50 years. She was recognized as Insurance Women of the Year in 1984-85 by the National Insurance Women's Association and she was a member of the Insurance Professionals of Greater Orlando when it was known as Insurance Women of Orlando-Winter Park, where she was President-Elect. Other organizations were the Birthday Bunch, Red Hat Society, Garden Club, Republican Women's Club, DAR, DUV, Widow's and Widowers Club in Goldenrod, Aloma UMC and the Pathways Circle and Friendship Class. Louise traveled to all 50 states and over 60 countries. She was the widow of George J. Hanna and mother of Barbara Hanna Walter (Scott) of Altamonte Springs and Rev. Donald Hanna (Joy) of Palatka. She had 9 grandchildren, Shannon McLaughlin (Jeff), Kristin Lesondak (Aaron), Heather Margio (Michael), Timothy Walter (Sarah), Paul Hanna, Jr., Steven Hanna, Kathryn Walter, Allison Bastian (Johnny) Rebekah Walter and 12 great-grandchildren. One sister, Carolyn Byrne of Conneaut, Pennsylvania survives. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aloma UMC, 3045 Aloma Ave., Winter Park, FL 32792 or Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Pkwy, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Aloma United Methodist Church, 3045 Aloma Ave. in Winter Park. The family will receive friends at the church from Noon until the time of services. A dessert fellowship will follow at 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall of the church. She will be laid to rest by her husband George at Palm Cemetery in Winter Park at 4:00 pm.
