Mary Pat Masters Akins, 37, of Palatka, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at UF Health in Gainesville following an extended illness. She was a native and life-long resident of Palatka. In addition to her love for her children and family, Mary Pat loved animals and horse-back riding. She also enjoyed wearing anything camouflage. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Buddy” Akins, a brother, John Eric Masters and her grandparents, Royce and Patricia Masters. Mary Pat is survived by 2 daughters, Makiyah Akins and Adalina “Addy” Akins, both of Palatka, her mother, Brenda Masters (William Revels) of East Palatka, her father and step-mother, Randy and Jessie Masters of Palatka, a special friend, Mitchell Smith of Palatka, a sister, Tina McNeill of Palatka, her grandparents, Mary and Charlie Baird of San Mateo, her mother-in-law, Pat Akins of Palatka, aunts and uncles, John and Pam Bass, Greg and Renee Williams and Lynda and Darrell Williams, all of Palatka and her nieces, Randie Johns, Morgan Johns and Johnna McNeill. Memorial services will be at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Darrell Williams officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of services at 6:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist in caring for her 2 daughters.
