Roy KUMMER

ROY F. KUMMER Roy F. Kummer, age 83, of Palatka, died Saturday September 19, 2009. He was a native and life-long resident of Palatka and a member of St. Monica Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Army & U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and had retired as a Sergeant with the National Guard. He retired after 35 years as a supervisor with Southern Bell and he had also previously worked with W.W. Tilton, Oliver & Garrett and the Coca Cola Bottling Plant in Palatka. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was preceded in death by his brother, Ed Kummer and a brother-in-law, Tommy Dobbs. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Kummer of Palatka; 2 sons, Duane Kummer & wife, Sherri of Palatka and Dwight Kummer & wife, Carla of Orlando; brother, Hugo Kummer & wife, Gerry of Sarasota; sisters, Margaret Mills & husband, Ed, and Mary Dobbs, all of Palatka; 6 grandchildren, Brandi Kummer, Robert Kummer, Tabitha Priester & husband, Wade, Francina Kummer, Blake Kummer, and Brandon Kummer; 2 great-grandchildren, Sarah Grace Priester and Herbert Wade “Trey” Priester, III, along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday September 23rd at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Rev. Michael Hudson, Austin Tilton, Judge Eugene Eastmoore and Peter Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens with the U. S. Army conducting full military honors. In celebration of his life a memorial video will be shown. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:30 - 7:30 P.M. at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
