Cornelius Lee (“Moose”) Moorehead, Jr., 65, of Umatilla, Florida, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019, in his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Ocala, Florida on January 27, 1954, to the late Cornelius L. Moorehead, Sr., and Margaret Ann Alvarez.
Mr. Moorehead is survived by his wife, Kathy, and two children: Judith C. Dugan and Jason C. Moorehead. He is also survived by three brothers: Andrew D. Miller and wife Susan, of Sims, North Carolina; Lewis S. Oatman and wife Karen, of Hope Mills, North Carolina; Gerard M. Campbell Jr. and wife Janet, of St. Johns, Florida; sister, Margaret A. Campbell Jr., of St. Johns, Florida; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Moorehead served our country for 27 years in the United States Navy and retired with the rank of CWO4. After retirement from the Navy, he went back to college and obtained a degree in Computer Technology and began a second career with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Information Management Services (IMS) for 7 years. He was an avid Florida Gators fan and an avid golfer. He also enjoyed horseback riding, boating and camping, and most importantly, spending time with his family. His relationship with God was very important, and he was quick to share with those around him that all things come through Christ.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Beyer’s Funeral Home, 279 S. Central Avenue, Umatilla, Florida 32784.
