Danny Eugene McGraw, 79, of Mount Dora, Florida went home to be with the Lord and fly with the angels on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 following a short illness. A proud Veteran of the United States Army, Mr. McGraw was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years: Barbara Ann Thomas McGraw; his father: Whitley Eugene McGraw; his mother: Ethel Marie Mullens McGraw; a sister: Virginia Alice McGraw Hope; and a daughter in law: Carol Wills McGraw. Born on 4/14/1937 in Glen White, W.V., to Whitley Eugene McGraw and Ethel Marie Mullens McGraw, he was raised in Fierco, W.V. and was a 1956 graduate of Stoco High School. Danny McGraw was a fan of the game of baseball, playing for many years in his youth and coaching youth in the game for many years. Danny was a proud member of the only baseball team sponsored by Beckley College and kept in touch with many of the other players on the team through the years. He was also an avid fan of West Virginia University sports teams, especially football. A family man, Danny and his wife retired to Mount Dora, Florida, where they enjoyed the warm weather and spending many hours with friends and neighbors. In his later years Danny enjoyed spending many hours on social media connecting and communicating with many other residents from small coal towns in his home state of West Virginia. Those left to cherish Danny’s memories are 3 sons: Robert R. McGraw of Mount Dora, FL, Michael Allen McGraw and his wife Theresa Wills McGraw of Kennesaw, GA, Gary Dean McGraw and his wife Judy Ransom McGraw of Greenwood, SC; 6 grandchildren: Christopher McGraw, Maygann McGraw Griffin, Nicholas McGraw, Tyler McGraw, Michaela McGraw Phillips and Logan McGraw; and 6 great grandchildren: Jakob McGraw, Trenton Griffin, Carter Dean McGraw, Brice Donovan, Cayleigh McGraw and Kayleigh Phillips. He also leaves behind 2 siblings: Louise Marie McGraw Duncan of Lake Worth, FL and Willard McGraw of Fierco, WV, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Per his wishes, Danny McGraw will be cremated and laid to rest with his wife at the Bushnell Veterans National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A memorial will be planned for a later date.
